Bass Harbor Lighthouse Sunset - Vertical

Bass Harbor Lighthouse Sunset - Vertical

Along the rocky rugged Maine coastline is this iconic 32-foot Bass Harbor Lighthouse, built in 1858. It sits on the edge of an old glacier worn rock face. It is on the most southern tip of the Acadia National Park. It seems a little strange to see the sun setting in the west across the ocean at a lighthouse located on the east coast of the USA, but there are many peninsulas in Maine where this is exactly what happens. There are two versions of this photo, vertical and horizontal formats. Each gives a different perspective from this vantage point. This image was selected by TechnaPrint for their 2012 customer calendar. In January 2012 this image received an Award of Merit in the 4C’s (Columbia Council of Camera Clubs) competition. There will be a storm cloudy sky image from a different vantage point located in the Black & White folder.
